I recently started training with the Institute of Building Biology to become a qualified Building Biologist. Since starting on the build of my new home and my mission to make it a ‘Healthy Home’, I’ve learnt so much and become so passionate about it. It’s led to me wanting to help other people with their renovations and builds. We care alot (well, some do!) about sustainable living and the environment but what about our own environments? By improving how we live, we can help the environment too.
Doing the course is enabling me to learn more from very knowledgable people as well as to meet likeminded people.
Building Biology or Healthy Homes aren’t such a key focus in the UK at the moment so I’m really hoping that as a Building Biologist, I can somehow make a difference to people’s lives.
What is a Building Biologist I hear you say?! There’s no official definition but I see it as someone who is an indoor environmental specialist who is trained to identify and address the health hazards in the buildings we inhabit from air, water and biological contaminants to electromagnetic fields.
