We’re all told that breast is best but the chances are that at some point, most babies will be fed from a bottle….so which of the hundreds of baby bottles do you choose? And why does it even matter?!
Baby bottles nowadays claim to be BPA free which is great but what about other toxic chemicals that are in plastic? Especially ones that are activated by heat. Glass bottles really are the best option. Yes, they are heavier to hold and to carry around (and too heavy for baby to hold themselves) but the pros definitely outweigh the cons.
Unfortunately, I’ve not found an alternative for the teats but at least these don’t get heated by the milk itself.
We used Dr Brown’s glass baby bottles and they were great!
Glass bottles for babies offer several benefits:
- Safety: They are free from harmful chemicals like BPA and phthalates, often found in plastic bottles.
- Durability: Glass is more resistant to scratches, which can harbour bacteria.
- Ease of Cleaning: Glass bottles can be easily sterilised and do not retain odours or stains.
- Environmental Friendliness: Glass is recyclable and has a lower environmental impact compared to plastic.
- Temperature Stability: They maintain the temperature of the contents better than plastic bottles.
These advantages make glass bottles a healthier and more eco-friendly choice for babies and so are a must, if you can!
Having written this post for babies, the same goes for kids and adults too! I always have my glass bottle with me – I’m a fan of bkr – check them out here. When Millie is old enough, I’m sure she’ll be getting her own one! More on this and water filtration to come soon.
