Some ‘Healthy Home’ ideas require you to spend some money but here are five free things for a healthier home that don’t! These are lifestyle changes that anyone can implement so why not give it a go?!
Open Windows
Let that fresh air in! Our indoor air is often more toxic than outdoors with cooking, offgassing, chemicals, sprays etc. Even when it’s cold, let some fresh air in!
Take Your Shoes Off
You’ve worn your shoes outside…you’ve stepped in mud, puddles, pee and goodness knows what else….and then you walk that through your house?! Why?! Take you shoes off by the front door and leave them there!
Turn your Wifi Off at Night and Phone on Airplane Mode
I will explore Electromagnetic Radiation soon (it’s a huge topic!). In summary, EMFs or EMR can cause all kinds of health issues and that’s with the testing in its infancy. Do you need your wifi on whilst you’re sleeping? No! Turn it off at night. Also, put your phone on airplane mode or even better, don’t sleep with it near you.
Close Toilet Lids
This is a pet hate of mine! If you don’t close the toilet lid before flushing, then water (and whatever you are flushing) can spray back out again! in fact, in the guest toilet, I intentionally put the flush behind the (soft-close of course!) lid so that you have to put it down in order to flush….too much or genius?!
Ditch the Candles and Air Fresheners
I’ve written a whole post about this here but in summary, candles are air fresheners release harmful chemicals into the air which we then breathe in. Use natural products instead!
